Carol & Paul

Big Day: 20 Jun 2009 • Countdown: 296 days

About Carol

Carol was born in Edinburgh at Simpson Memorial Maternity Hospital on 4th June 1964 and was brought up by her mum Gloria from the age of 3. After leaving school at 16 with no qualifications she spent a good few years building her skills in office work and also a stint in behind the bar. She has 3 children, Martin, Greig from a previous marriage and Laura. She returned to college and further education at the age of 35 with a view to becoming a midwife and obtained a diploma of HE in Health Care from Napier University. Alas the dreams of becoming a nurse were not to be and she is currently working at the University of Edinburgh as a Clerical Officer.

About Paul

Paul was born on 3rd July 1979 (shares a birthday with Tom Cruise as he likes to remind us). Until the age of 8 lived in Castlemilk then moved to Busby with his parents Liz and Mike and his brother Michael. Paul started acting when he was in school and carried on for 6 years. (he once did frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show but strangely there are no pictures hmmm) Unfortunately there was no money in it so Paul took a college course in media studies and then computer support. Paul is currently working in IT as a Consultant for Busby Media Services and is always in demand.

How they met

Carol had an avid interest in all things paranormal and was keen to join a ghosthunting group in the scottish area, she contacted Ghosthunters Scotland and was invited along to a hunt at Yester Castle. Carol met all of the team including Paul. On the way home he offered her his smarties ( a smooth move indeed) After trying to fix him up with another team member it finally dawned on them both that they got on rather well and should have at least one date and from 17th March 2005 the rest is history.

The proposal

After almost two years and some wonderful memories already created together Paul surprised Carol one evening on 30th January 2007. He had taken her for a lovely meal earlier in the evening and they had returned home. The children were staying with relatives and out of the blue he popped the question on one knee and produced the most beautiful ring. Carol was overwhelmed (yes there were tears) but she managed to squeeze out a yes. Although they had spoken about the possibility at some point the dream had become a reality.
